Legal Frameworks for Sustainable Energy Infrastructure Task Group
This Task Group has been formed to work with legal experts from industry
and local government to provide guidance on legal frameworks for navigating the
complexities of Sustainable Energy Infrastructure (SEI), such as
district heating and heat networks.
The task group report suggested that delivering successful, integrated and sustainable energy infrastructure would not be possible without overcoming certains barriers including the lack of standardised frameworks and agreements available for the delivery of SEI. Currently, every time partners (developers, utility providers, local authorities etc) come together to seek to deliver SEI they, in effect, start from scratch on the legal arrangements – causing unnecessary delays, cost and bureaucracy. There was clearly a need for guidance in this area, resulting in the launch of UK-GBC's SEI Legal Frameworks Task Group in November 2010.
