Embodied carbon workshop

UK-GBC will be running a workshop in order to create possible recommendations which will be made to the GLA on embodied carbon as a viable carbon strategy for insertion into the Draft London Plan.

Work is currently underway by the London Energy Transformation Initiative (LETI) task force to develop robust policy recommendations and an implementation plan for London’s carbon emissions policy in the London Plan and the London Environment Strategy. Embodied carbon has been identified within LETI’s recent report, Getting to Zero, as a related priority as with increased building energy efficiency, embodied carbon becomes increasingly important as it represents a greater proportion of the total lifecycle emissions of a development. As such, a policy framework to support reduction of embodied carbon needs to be considered.

The embodied carbon workshop will be aligning with LETI recommendations as well as World GBC’s work on Advancing Net Zero in order to ensure a coherent message is delivered from industry to government.
