Embodied Carbon Action
Embodied carbon is rising up the agenda and rapidly becoming a key area of focus for industry, this is why UK-GBC has been working with industry to take forward activity that drives real change and action in reducing whole life carbon. On the 1 October 2015 UK-GBC hosted a one day Embodied Carbon Conference: Action & Implementation which responded to the recommendations made following Embodied Carbon Week in April 2014.
Embodied Carbon Week 2014 and the Embodied Carbon Conference in 2015 brought together the built environment industry to explore the topic in greater detail and instigate a wider discussion about what more can be done to advance best practice.
2014 saw the first ever Embodied Carbon Week, run by UK-GBC in partnership with British Land, Derwent London, Land Securities, Tishman Speyer and WRAP, to raise awareness of embodied carbon within buildings. The Embodied Carbon Conference, in partnership with BRE, British Land, Carillion and Sturgis Carbon Profiling looked to drive action and drive real change within the industry.
