Alastair Mant takes up Industry Engagement brief at UK-GBC

The UK Green Building Council (UK-GBC) has today announced the appointment of Alastair Mant as its first Head of Industry Engagement.

Alastair was previously Director, Head of Sustainability, at GVA and brings with him a wealth of sustainability experience, as well as a strong network of connections across the built environment industry.

This new role, which will see Alastair sit on UK-GBC’s senior management team and report direct to the Chief Executive, has been created to further enhance UK-GBC’s industry-facing initiatives. He will have strategic responsibility for how UK-GBC engages with its 400+ member organisations, which range in size from sole traders to FTSE 100 companies and span the entire built environment value chain. He will also be charged with identifying opportunities for strategic partnerships with other industry organisations.

Using intelligence gathered from the membership and wider built environment industry, Alastair will design and oversee a programme of market-facing sustainability research designed to support UK-GBC in demonstrating the value of sustainability. His team will continue to provide meaningful data and analytics to support and challenge UK-GBC members, and the wider industry, to make better-informed decisions and scale up the adoption of viable sustainable solutions.

Julie Hirigoyen, Chief Executive, UK Green Building Council:

“I’m delighted to announce the appointment of Alastair Mant as our new Head of Industry Engagement. Alastair has an impressive track-record in sustainability and responsible property investment, and brings a wealth of experience of advising investors, developers and occupiers on their corporate sustainability strategies.

“In this new role, Alastair’s remit will encompass member recruitment and retention, knowledge sharing and peer to peer learning across the member network, research and thought-leadership projects, as well as alliances and industry collaborations. This portfolio of responsibilities is entirely consistent with our ambitions to drive transformational change amongst our member businesses, and across the sector at large.”
