Rising Star Award 2016 shortlist announced

The Rising Star Award has gathered great momentum over the past four years, with an even larger amount of entries from across the industry for 2016. PRP and UK-GBC launched the award in memory of Mel Starrs, a prominent built environment practitioner and PRP employee who sadly suddenly passed away in July 2012.

After a nomination process that saw over 60 entries from colleagues and peers, this year's judges undertook rigorous shortlisting of the great candidates from across the built environment industry.

Congratulations to our six shortlisted finalists:

  • Ben Farnell, Baker & McKenzie
  • Christina Houlgrave, Skanska
  • Lisa Pasquale, Six Cylinder
  • Mark Siddall, LEAP (Low Energy Architectural Practice)
  • Morgan Taylor, Greengage
  • Carol Wakelin, Queensgate Shopping Centre

Thanks to our 2016 judges: Su Butcher, Just Practising; Natalia Ford, UK-GBC; Mark Fretwell; Alastair Mant, Bilfinger GVA; Andrew Mellor, PRP; Sofie Pelsmakers, University of Sheffield and Olivia Preston, UK-GBC (2015 winner), who had a tough job on their hands with the number and quality of the nominations this year.

Thanks also to everyone who nominated a colleague or peer for the Award and congratulations to all of the nominees for shining a light on the sustainability agenda and being recognised for their work.

The winner will be announced by Andrew Mellor and Su Butcher during a ceremony at our Birthday party on Wednesday 9 March at The Crystal. We hope many of you can join us in celebrating everyone nominated for this very special Award.
