Who had the most sustainable stand at this year’s Ecobuild?

For the third year running, UK-GBC gave exhibitors the opportunity to shout about the green credentials of their stand. The winners of the Sustainable Stand Awards were announced at Ecobuild during the Exhibitor Party.

Winner: Coillte.
This stand was genius in its simplicity, Coillte having effectively grown it themselves. Made of MDF using trees that were planted and grown in their FSC forests then harvested and turned into the final stand. At the end of its life, it will be pulped and made into new products.

Highly Commended: Interface.

Winner: Aco Technologies
The defining feature of this entry was how well considered it was. Unique to the awards, they reported on how they have improved the sustainability credentials on their stand from last year. They also used zero paper on their stand, instead directing people to their website.

Highly Commended: Travis Perkins Group plc

Judges looked for examples of how sustainability was incorporated into the stands. This includes the design and sourcing of materials and construction, with a focus on eliminating waste, reducing materials and energy used, reusing and recycling, and displaying the ethical sourcing and fair-trading of the materials used.

Thank you to everyone who entered and to Willmott Dixon for sponsoring the awards.
