Designing a low carbon environment: a designer and owner perspective.
Presenter: Robert Middlebrooks
Robert E. Middlebrooks, AIA, is an Industry Programs Manager with Autodesk, Inc. specialising in BIM and Sustainable Design Retrofit. He is an Architect with over 26 years experience of international practice including the UK. Robert recently lead Autodesk’s effort to laser scan, modelling and energy retrofit support to the US National Building Museum.
Presentation Summary:
18% of the UK’s carbon emissions are generated from the non-domestic buildings sector[1]. With increasing regulatory and client pressure on improving the performance of existing and new buildings, through measures such as the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme and the 2019 Zero Carbon targets, how is design software aiding the designer and owner in the decision making process?
This session will present public and private sector case examples from the perspective of designer and building owner for how carbon abatement is designed in refurbishment and new build projects using design software from Autodesk, a world leading design software provider. The presentation concludes with implications for the future designing and operating of better buildings.
