Hamiltons Architects

Established in 1967, Hamiltons Architects is a highly successful, award-winning, design led architectural practice.  Based in London with over 270 staff members, Hamiltons has a diversity of skills and expertise in architecture and masterplanning spanning residential, offices, hospitality, cultural, education, industrial and transport infrastructure projects. In recent years the practice has undergone an exciting process of transition responding to an increasingly diverse and demanding range of projects.

Today, working in a well resourced and dynamic studio environment, Hamiltons is dedicated to the creation of fresh and progressive architecture that works. This is achieved by drawing on a mix of creative ingenuity and commercial insight - together with decades of cutting edge experience.

Sustainability touches every aspect of our work. We continually strive to achieve more using less. That means reducing our dependency on non-renewable resources and energy together with the resulting carbon dioxide emissions.

Technically advanced systems can often be successfully employed in reducing environmental impact. However, many of the most environmentally sustainable design solutions exploit passive measures and technologies which maximise the effects of daylight, shading, natural ventilation, thermal mass and suitable local resources.

Designing buildings that make sound commercial sense and satisfy the demands of sustainability is a real challenge. Our office now has considerable experience in this field with staff who have worked on a wide range of successful, ecological, low energy buildings ranging in scale and use. These skills form an integral part of our design process.

Global warming and climate change mean sustainable design has never been more important. Buildings consume half of the energy used in the developed world. The quality of their design can reduce energy consumption, create a more productive environment and reduce dependency on inefficient transport by influencing transport patterns through urban planning.

Designing with sustainability in mind requires an integrated approach that includes everything from initial siting to the orientation on the site, the sourcing of materials, approach to environmental systems and the use of renewable energy both in the design and in the process of manufacturing.

Helmsley Group

Helmsley are based in the beautiful City of York and provide direct income and tax solutions to individuals with capital by developing, investing and lending monies directly into property developments, investments, JV\'s and loans. This is all carried out by means of syndication and clients can spend as little as £25,000 and spread their risk through a variety of projects or property investments of their own choice. We are involved with green building as we see it as the way forward to add value to properties although the challenge of increased costs is yet to be met by occupiers being prepared to pay more, for a more sustainable product. This will change in time and as well as being good for business ‘\'green\'\' is good for all of us. We hope as more developers and occupiers take up this challenge the technologies available will become mainstream and cheaper. We are presently building an Eco Centre for York City Council which has not been subsidized in any way and is financially viable. We hope to roll this building concept out into the regions as a proven product at an affordable price [see website] We have won various awards for our new and refurbished buildings and pride ourselves on delivering a quality, well designed product which will become increasingly environmentally friendly.
