Task Group
Biodiversity
Founded: 01/07/08 Members: 33
The UK-GBC Biodiversity Task Group was launched in June 2008 and the group's final report and recommendations were published at the end of March 2009.
The group produced a final report 'Biodiversity and the Built Environment', and a set of guidance points to provide construction industry professionals with clear guidance on how to incorporate and enhance wildlife within our built structures.
The group also launched a new 'biodiversity portal' on the UK-GBC website which contains information about the work of the group and provides construction industry professionals with a first-port-of-call for information on biodiversity relevant to the built environment. We are not aiming to provide a large body of new information through the portal, instead directing users to the most relevant information in this area.

SCOPE
The broad objectives for the task group were:
1. To raise the awareness of the role of biodiversity in delivering a sustainable built environment, and to encourage the construction industry and its clients to incorporate biodiversity into all new and refurbishment schemes.
2. Develop the roadmap in order to maintain and enhance biodiversity in the built environment through the production of simple and clear guidance
