Meet our team

As Chief Executive of UKGBC, Julie is focused on delivering lasting change within the industry by engaging with UKGBC members, regulators and wider stakeholders in an effective and collaborative way.

Julie was previously UK Head of Sustainability and an International Director at JLL, having come into JLL as a result of an acquisition. JLL acquired Upstream, a leading sustainability consultancy which Julie was co-founder and Joint MD of, in 2007. Having led the Upstream team through the integration into JLL, Julie oversaw further development of cutting-edge sustainability services to property investors and occupiers across the UK and EMEA

Julie sits on the Green Construction Board, the Igloo Footprint Advisory Board, Grimshaw’s Stewardship Group and the Carbon Trust Advisory Panel.  Julie is a London Sustainable Development Commissioner, and previously chaired the British Property Federation’s Sustainability Committee for two years.

John leads UKGBC’s long-standing policy and advocacy work, and its growing programme of activities on cities and place. He has responsibility for the Advancing Net Zero, Cities and Social Value programmes, as well as UKGBC’s work on health and wellbeing in the built environment. Based in Manchester, John also leads UKGBC’s local networks and regional membership strategy.

Prior to joining UKGBC, shortly after its launch in 2007, John led political communications on emissions trading and sustainable homes for the environmental charity WWF-UK. He has also previously worked as an MP’s researcher in the House of Commons and in commercial public affairs.

John served two terms on the Board of WorldGBC between 2015 and 2019.

Munish is responsible for maximising the value derived from membership of UKGBC for its members and the provision of rich UKGBC-curated insight demonstrating the business case for sustainability, innovation and practical solutions. He is also responsible for leading the business planning and budgeting process, as well as overseeing the Finance & Operations team.

Munish has a track record of creating strategy and delivering operational outcomes, resulting in substantial commercial, environmental, social and reputational benefits.  He previously led teams to design and deliver Marks & Spencer’s multi award winning, globally renowned sustainability strategy (Plan A).  He is a Senior Associate, Faculty and Tutor at the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership, member of the UK Government Green Construction Board and a trustee of Rama Foundation, a UK charity building capacities and skills of disadvantaged communities.

Elfrida is responsible for the design and delivery of UKGBC’s leadership and learning programmes which aim to achieve  impact at scale across the built environment.

Elfrida originally qualified as a management accountant, and prior to commencing her role at UKGBC worked for over 20 years for Shell in a variety of leadership roles including Corporate Social Responsibility,, sustainable development, learning and development, HR and finance. Elfrida has worked internationally in Africa, , Asia, Brazil, Europe and the Middle East.

Alastair heads up the business transformation team at UKGBC. He leads the scoping and delivery of projects to provide the industry with the tools and guidance it requires to radically improve the sustainability of the built environment. His current focus areas are circular economy, climate resilience, green infrastructure and innovation.

Alastair was previously a director at a national property consultancy where he provided advice on sustainability issues throughout the property lifecycle and especially on asset management, focussing on strategy, reporting and the link to business value. He is a frequent public speaker and facilitator and is a Member of the RICS and a Practitioner of IEMA.
