Become a UKGBC Member

Since 2007, UKGBC has been progressing against our mission to radically improve the sustainability of the built environment. As a membership network, we are the unified voice of our industry’s current and future leaders who are striving to realise meaningful transformation in response to the planetary emergency.

Our members have told us they appreciate belonging to a community of shared values. A community which, through openness and collaboration, provides  the skills and knowledge to create sustainable change, enabling leaders to maximise their impact and position their organisation at the forefront of sustainability in the built environment.

Members derive a broad range of benefits through their involvement with UKGBC. These includes meaningful insights on the latest sustainability topics; involvement in shaping best practice in the industry and being part of a unified voice to influence national and local policy.

Who Should Join

Any organisation that believes in a better built environment and collective action to address our climate crisis should join UKGBC.

As a multi-disciplinary network of committed organisations spanning the private, public and voluntary sectors, we welcome all types of organisation to join in our mission.

UKGBC Membership Requirements Towards Climate Action

We expect all members of UKGBC to show commitment towards working with us to achieve a global transition towards net zero. In May 2021 we introduced new requirements of membership, as part of our role as an official Accelerator of the UNFCCC-backed Race to Zero campaign:

All UKGBC members must, at minimum, commit at the head-of-organisational level to take action that contributes towards the global effort needed to limit warming to 1.5C by 2050. All members are strongly encouraged to align their commitment with the Race to Zero criteria, and to formally join the campaign through one of its Partner Initiatives.

UKGBC Gold Leaf members are required to demonstrate their ambition and commitment by formally joining the Race to Zero campaign and aligning their activities with its criteria.

Find out more about Race to Zero and UKGBC’s role as an Accelerator here.
