Following the successful industry input into sites in Manchester, North Keynsham and Morden as part of the Foreground programme, UKGBC is running two workshops to review and strengthen the planning requirements for Harlow and Gilston Garden Town.

Harlow and Gilston was designated as a Garden Town in January 2017 and will comprise new and existing communities in and around Harlow. The Garden Town is set in attractive countryside and promises to attract transformative investment in local transport and community infrastructure.

East Herts, Epping Forest and Harlow District Councils are working together with Hertfordshire and Essex County Councils to ensure plans for the Garden Town support sustainable living and a healthy economy; provide a good quality of life for existing and future residents; and respond to local landscape and character.

UKGBC is hosting two workshops to provide industry input into the planning guidance on sustainability, to ensure that those requirements are as aspirational and effective as they can be:

  • Workshop 1 will focus on environmental sustainability – 10am-12.30pm
  • Workshop 2 will focus on socio-economic considerations – 1.30pm-4pm

This event is invite-only. Please contact sophia.cox@ukgbc.org if you are interested in attending.

Who should attend: Developers, sustainability consultants, engineers, architects, industry bodies, local authorities.
