The reporting of scope 3 emissions is challenging for the commercial real estate sector due in large part to a lack of sector-specific guidance. This represents a significant, untapped area for companies to drive carbon reductions – up to 87% of total carbon impacts for some real estate companies [1].

UKGBC is currently preparing guidance tailored to the commercial real estate sector in an effort to reduce barriers to reporting. This guidance will clarify the reporting process and build on already existing guidance, including the GHG Protocol and RICS Professional Statement ‘Whole life carbon assessment for the built environment’.

This webinar will allow participants to engage with the process for developing the guidance. Specifically, participants are requested to provide input on what areas of scope 3 reporting they would like additional guidance on.

The webinar will take place in conjunction with a public consultation process to gain wider feedback. Participants will be issued with the consultation paper prior to the webinar for optional pre-reading. The webinar will include an overview of the paper, instructions on how you can respond to it, and time allocated for any questions you might have.

Overview:

  • Hear about UKGBC’s project developing industry guidance on scope 3
  • Explore the proposed sections and content for the guidance
  • Understand how you can get involved in the consultation and provide feedback

Speakers:

  • Karl Desai, Projects Manager – Advancing Net Zero, UKGBC
  • Sam Carson, Director of Sustainability, Carbon Credentials
