Climate change and biodiversity loss are putting extreme pressure on farmers and land managers; but advice is expensive and hard to find. Meanwhile only 2% of companies can trace their environmental impacts to the ground.
Iceni Earth believe in creating a world where farmers and land managers are empowered to build diverse habitats and achieve net-zero food production. But without an efficient and fair flow of data and financial incentives that will not happen.
Overview of start-up
Iceni Earth is a digital platform enabling land developers, ecologists, local authorities and landowners to manage and track biodiversity actions under Biodiversity Net Gain legislation. It helps users understand, improve and share information on the biodiversity on their land.
With the app farmers and land managers can account for carbon and biodiversity, set a baseline and track improvements over time. The app has built-in advice to help with improvements and users can be paid through farm payments or nature credits.
With the app users can take control of land management, measure their carbon footprint and pathway to net zero as well as actively manage the species and structure of the habitats on their land.
What makes the start-up innovative
Facilitating a collaborative process on Biodiversity Net Gain through software.
How the start-up has been designed to scale up quickly
There is automated onboarding and software support. The app is also accessible by different users across the entire organisational ecosystem.
