Problem Addressed

The model is born out of a need to address avoidable waste, duplication and inefficiency that exists specifically in the construction sector. There is huge material waste (timber) in the construction supply chain relating specifically to pallets. At headline level there are 18million pallets used by the construction each year. Of this number, less than 10% are reused.

How The Start-up Been Designed To Scale-up Quickly

LOOP is a joint venture between JNRP Trading as Pallet LOOP and Scott Group Ltd.

The LOOP model has been designed to minimise waste, embrace re-use, and significantly reduce associated CO2 emissions. A Life Cycle Analysis validated by Dr James Colwill at Loughborough University acknowledges that the transformational LOOP model in promoting and facilitating a culture of re-use will deliver 70% less CO2 emissions, up to 75% reduction in timber usage and is ISO 14044 compliant.

In its purest state, LOOP is a deposit-based supply chain solution that enables recovery, repair and reuse of pallets in the UK construction sector.

To date, LOOP has invested in the development of proprietary IT systems, secured Registered Trademark status, achieved ISO status, and critically engaged with stakeholders from across the sector.
