Sussed
Problem addressed
Measurement and data sharing: How can buildings’ carbon data be consistently measured and shared to increase trust and confidence? How can we foster a more collaborative, transparent approach to the carbon challenge, that actively accelerates change?
Greenwashing, building performance gap and domestic market cynicism. The problem we seek to address is the difficulty for the common person in understanding various sustainability claims made within the property sector and the confusion and cynicism this creates. There is a lack of useable data available for planners, engineers and building designers relating to how people use their homes. Finding these homes with verified green credentials, making an informed decision, is currently very difficult and is a struggle if using the platforms available nowadays.
Solution overview
Sussed is an estate agency focusing on sustainable homes, for people to live in healthier and happier ways. We believe that more people want to sell or buy sustainable homes, and that current platforms act as a hindrance. We can help customers grow their roots by finding them a home fit for the future.
We provide our own assessment and promote advisory services to be the link between home owners / buyers and their sustainable aspirations.
We will achieve this through three phases:
- Our first phase will involve reviewing sustainable homes and listing those that pass our set criteria to grow the roots of our brand.
- The second phase will involve monitoring our portfolio of homes, advising homeowners on suitable improvements and acting as a link to reputable, local supply chains and Apps (such as FutureFit 2050).
- Our third phase will focus on partnership development with government and professional bodies that will benefit from our database.
Impact
Our biggest goal is to disrupt the estate agency market, creating a new responsible estate agency model that can be replicated across the industry. Sussed aims to create a new customer experience focused on deeper and longer relationships as an integral part of a growing green housing market.
Through our model, we aim to generate a database of new and real data measured from our portfolio of green homes.
Benefits
Sussed aims to address the greenwashing gap, raising the standard for green homes and reducing the overall energy usage in the existing private homes stock in the UK. This will be recorded, providing usable data that can feed back into the refurbishment process, rewarding homeowners for making suitable, sustainable alterations to their homes during the sales process (through increased sales revenue).
This data can then be used to inform future building standards and regulations, as well as promote partnerships with public and private entities (such as energy providers). This will help reduce the building performance gap and improve public trust.
