Policy & Advocacy

The new Labour Government has a huge mandate for change, a big focus on planning reform, new homes and Warm Homes plan with double the budget of the last administration.
With time running out to halt climate and nature breakdown, the priorities, policies and every action of this Government needs to count. We’re working with our members, partners and allies to step up and offer the expertise and support needed for the bold, brave, long-term policy decisions we want to see.

Our policies
UKGBC’s 4-step policy platform ‘Building Britain’s Future’ draws together the game-changing policies developed with members and partners to offer the new Government opportunities to show real impact on energy bills, affordable housing, and climate and nature protection, by renewing the places we live, work and play.
It builds on the policy recommendations of UKGBC’s seminal Whole Life Carbon Roadmap to Decarbonise the Built Environment which has become a reference point for the industry and policy makers. And is informed by our emerging Climate Resilience Roadmap.

Our team
Our team brings expertise on topics from climate policy, through planning, new build and retrofit, climate risk and resilience, nature restoration and the energy transition. Our backgrounds are as ministerial advisors, housebuilders, NGO campaigners and civil servants. Our staff are based in London, Scotland and Wales.
We work closely with a member Taskforce who help shape and drive our work, and our efforts are boosted by the generous support of Policy Advocacy Project Partners.
