As our climate changes there is growing demand for air conditioners. A significant portion of c02 produced by buildings is caused by cooling and refrigeration.

Solution overview

COOLNOMIX® is a retrofit energy saving solution that is installed on the internal components of any air-conditioning or refrigeration system, reducing excess any consumption in the compressor. The compressor is the main energy consuming component in direct expansion (DX) based cooling systems. The use of COOLNOMIX® results in energy savings in the range 30%-40%.

The solution is an AI based energy optimisation thermostat with 2 temperature sensors. One sensor monitors the return or warm air entering the indoor unit while the other temperature sensor monitors the cold supply air entering the room. Although installed on the indoor component of any air conditioning unit the 2 sensors work in unison to dynamically optimise room temperature as a first priority and then modulate the outdoor compressor to optimise energy consumption. COOLNOMIX® responds dynamically to any change in the heating load (e.g. a classroom filling up with students) while delivering impressive energy and carbon footprint reductions even on the most modern variable speed drive compressor systems.

There are more than 20,000 COOLNOMIX® units working around the world in 10 years of operation each resulting in substantial carbon footprint reductions.

Cost Benefit

The return on investment depends on such factors as the cost of labour, hours of operation, the price of electricity and the standard of maintenance. Typical installed cost is £400 per COOLNOMIX® unit with a return on investment within 12-18 months.
