The construction sector is responsible for 39% of global emissions and current rates of decarbonisation are not keeping pace with the requirements of the Paris Agreement. A major factor in the slow rate of change is a lack of understanding across the industry of the source of impacts, the options available to do things differently and a lack of collaboration and understanding across the supply chain. One Click LCA’s user-friendly platform and hands-on support makes life-cycle assessment (LCA), life-cycle costing (LCC) and other carbon transparency tools available to all, regardless of prior knowledge or position within the construction supply chain.
The product-level tools help manufacturers to conduct product LCA, generate Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) and create lower-impact products. For buildings and infrastructure projects the tools facilitate building circularity, early design optimisation and site-level decision-making – in addition to core LCA and LCC tools.
For real estate investors and corporates, One Click offers greenhouse gas reporting and management.
All the tools are tailored to meet the appropriate local legislative or certification requirements and Bionova understands that for tools and approaches to become part of mainstream practice they need to be easy to use and incorporate into existing workflows. The One Click LCA software suite integrates with most major design tools, including BIM, Revit and IESVE and complies with BREEAM, LEED, and 40+ certifications.
Upfront costs vary depending on the need. There are three main types of tool: One Click LCA Building and Infrastructure LCA; One Click LCA Product Carbon and EPD Generator and One Click LCA GHG Reporting. For each, there are three plans available, Starter, Business and Expert, as well as several add-on options to ensure the solution is tailored to the specific business need. A baseline Whole Life Carbon Footprint for the building was calculated over a design life of 120 years, using the One Click LCA ‘EN 15978’ indicator. A variety of design options were then tested against this baseline, allowing a 14% reduction in Whole Life Carbon emissions to be developed by the end of RIBA Stage 2. Carrying out this analysis allows the project to achieve 2 Innovation credits under the BREEAM New Construction 2014 scheme, providing an additional 2% to the overall score. The project is expected to achieve BREEAM Excellent as a minimum.
