Since the dropping of the national Zero Carbon 2016 target, and the Code for Sustainable Homes, confusion currently dominates when it comes to new build housing standards, particularly at the local level. There is a lack of clarity about what local authorities can, and cannot do to enable high quality development. These issues were explored in a recent UKGBC Green Paper.

Working with the Core Cities and our members, we are exploring the ways and means available to local authorities to encourage and facilitate high quality development. We are also examining how developers can gain better recognition at the local level when they bring forward quality proposals.
